Child and play therapy for families in County Wicklow

COUNTY WICKLOW

Wicklow divides more sharply than any other county we work with, and the mountains are the reason.

West Wicklow

Blessington, Dunlavin, Hollywood, Baltinglass and Donard are all within a reasonable weekly journey — roughly thirty-five to fifty minutes to Kildare Town, depending where you are starting. For west Wicklow families, in-person weekly therapy is entirely workable, and we see families from this side of the county regularly.

West Wicklow is also, in our experience, poorly served for children's therapy. It sits at the edge of several catchments and families often find themselves told to travel to Dublin or Wicklow town.

East Wicklow

Bray, Greystones, Wicklow town, Arklow and Rathdrum are a different proposition. The road over or around the mountains makes an hour-and-a-quarter journey each way, and we would not recommend committing to that weekly.

For the east coast, online sessions are the realistic answer, and there are also good practitioners closer to you along the N11 corridor. We would rather point you toward them than take on work that will collapse under the travel.

What we offer

Play therapy for younger children and psychotherapy for older children and teenagers, ages 4 to 18. Fifty-minute weekly sessions, same time each week.

Parent and carer work alongside, either separately or in our co-working model, where one therapist sees the child and another sees the adult in parallel.

No referral is needed. Ring us directly.

Online sessions

We offer online psychotherapy for teenagers, and online support sessions for parents and foster carers. For east Wicklow with an older child, that is usually the workable answer.

Play therapy for younger children is in person only. From the east coast that makes a weekly commitment a serious one, and there are good play therapists along the N11 closer to you. We would rather point you toward them than take on work that will not hold.

For professionals in Wicklow

We take referrals from Tusla, GPs, schools and SENOs, and we work with children in foster and residential care and with the carers and staff teams around them.

Training and consultation can be delivered as a block, which travels far better than weekly work does.
