WHAT IS CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT?

"Ask not what is wrong with this child.  Ask what has happened"

                                             - Bruce Perry

Supporting the adults around the child

We offer consultation, training and reflective support to foster carers, schools and other professionals working with children and young people. Our aim is to support the adults around children so they feel more confident in understanding and responding to the emotional and relational needs that arise in everyday settings.

This work is consultative rather than supervisory and can be tailored to the needs of a particular school, team or organisation.

"When the adults around a child feel informed, supported and confident - the child feels it. Safety travels through relationship."

HOW IT WORKS
Understanding children from the inside out

Drawing on our therapeutic experience, we explore how children communicate through behaviour, emotion and relationship - not just through words.  Our work highlights the importance of attuned, right-brain to right-brain communication and the many ways children express what they are feeling beyond cognitive or language-based explanations.

Through consultation, discussion and training we support carers and professionals to deepen their understanding of children's behaviour and consider thoughtful ways of responding that promote emotional safety, connection and development.

Practioners trained to IAPTP standards integrate play-based methods within a robust therapeutic framework that is grounded in clinical training, ethical practice and supervision

WHO IS IT FOR?

Who we work with

Our consultation and support is available to any professional or organisation working with children and young people.  If you work alongside children - in any capacity - and you want to understand them more confidantly and create safer, more attuned environments for them to grow in, we would love to hear from you.

THE BENEFITS

What consultation and support offers

A Deeper Understanding of Childrens Behaviour

Move beyond surface behaviour to understand what a child is communicating - and why. Behaviour is always communication. Consultation helps you hear what is really being said.

Greater Confidence in Responding

Feel more equipped and confident in your day-to-day interactions with children - particularly in moments of dysregulation, distress or challenging behaviour.

Attuned, Relational Practice

Develop a more attuned, right-brain approach to working with children - one that prioritizes connection, safety and emotional regulation over compliance.

Tailored to your setting

This work is consultative rather than supervisory and is always shaped around the specific needs of your team, school or organisation.

Better Outcomes for Children

When the adults around a child feel supported and informed, children feel it. Consultation creates a ripple effect - improving outcomes for every child in your care.
